Mercat de Sant Josep/ La Boqueria, Barcelona

The famous La Boqueria is the sister market to London’s Borough Market and easily rivals it for the amazing range of fresh ingredients including fruit and vegetables, all manner of raw and cured Spanish meats and the freshest seafood. It is this foodie’s utopia!

The origin of the market dates back to the year 1217 but wasn’t legally recognised until 1826. Over the years the market has undergone a range of different guises including a pig market, meat and fish market and it’s current identity as a variety market showcasing the best Spain has to offer.
